Porsche Engineering Group GmbH

Based in Weissach, Porsche Engineering Group GmbH (PEG) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the sports car manufacturer Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG and employs more than 1,500 engineers and software developers worldwide. On behalf of customers, they develop a wide range of solutions incorporating the experience of the sports car manufacturer Porsche into the projects. Porsche Engineering combines expertise from the areas of vehicle and system development with the latest innovations from function and software development and validates these using comprehensive simulation and testing options.

PEG uses methods from the fields of AI and Big Data in numerous customer and research projects. These include innovations in the field of vehicle testing or in high-voltage battery development, as well as in the chassis area and engine development. In the field of driver assistance systems, there are extensive projects in the area of lateral and longitudinal control, automated test drives on test tracks or AI-based approaches in the area of high-precision GPS positioning. As part of the future Level 3 development, the focus is currently on specific driving situations. The AI competence at the German locations is being continuously expanded in cooperation with the AI labs in Romania and the Czech Republic.

In the KI Delta Learning project, PEG is working on concepts and research prototypes which aim at the development of specific driving situations at different locations. Data sets will be collected both in Germany and in the USA. Enriched by synthetic data sets, the models are continuously improved and mutually mapped by suitable didactic procedures. The automotive suitability is iteratively improved and regularly evaluated by further test drives, whereby the Delta Learning results are validated by the original data from both geographies.
